Make an account.
An account is needed to send a message through the contact form on this site, and for nothing else. The app you download still needs no account, asks for no email address and never signs you in - this is a change to the website alone.
One email address, one password, and nothing else is asked for.
What an account is for
The contact form asks for an account because that is what stops a flood of junk from using up the number of messages the form allows. A few messages a day is the honest maximum one person has, and no stranger can spend it without an account.
- What is kept: your email address and a password. Nothing else, and no record of what you write - the message itself goes to the form host, not to us.
- Your password is stored only as a hash: a value derived from it that cannot be turned back into the password. Nobody here can read it, and neither can anyone who reads the database.
- A reply goes to the address on the account, so the reply address cannot be pointed somewhere else by whoever is typing the message.
The password is stored as a salted PBKDF2 hash, and staying signed in uses one cookie. That cookie is the only thing this site stores in your browser, and the privacy page says exactly what it holds and how long it lasts.
Already have an account? Sign in. If you would rather read what makes a useful message before making one, the contact page sets that out.
